I created this body of work called "Rock Spirits" from rocks I found mainly in Savoy, MA when I was doing an Artist Residency Program at Starseed Healing Sanctuary & Retreat Center.  I would go for walks and come upon rocks that I saw distinctive faces on them.  I used colored pencils to "draw out" the faces that I could already see.  At first I used a full color palette, but then decided to limit myself to just white, grey and black pencils for more contrast.  The rock spirits pictured here are the remains of my personal collection.  The rest of my rock spirits are in private collections.
